Leave the Bay Area behind.
Only a short drive beyond Calistoga and the Napa Valley
up Highway 29, you level out in arid upland meadows of Lake
County. At the center of Middletown you turn left at the
stop light onto Highway 175 and continue to pass along level
road and then once again start climbing into the mountains.
One last steep twist in the road and your have reached the
gateway to a mountain sanctuary. A road sign greets you
"Whispering Pines-Population 200-Elevation 2,500 feet-Chains
May Be Required". The air changes, the pace slows,
you take a deep breath of fresh mountain air. Wander further
past a quiet forest lake, and then beside an immaculate
golf course. A left turn on Bottle Rock Road brings you
to your destination Pine Grove Resort. So different yet
so near, a place of the heart.
Near the Grove wild geese and mallard ducks float on Forest
Lake close by the road. In spring Rhododendrons, wild dogwoods,
native redbuds, flicker in bursts of color among towering
pine and mighty oak. In summer dry crisp breezes whisper
in the pines. Night brings families to the Meadows for star
gazing and camp fire songs. The spring fed olympic sized
swimming pool and vast shaded lawn are at the heart of the
Grove.

Fall brings spectacular
colors of aspen and maple. Crisp clear mornings filled with
scent of the campfire and tales of summers past. Bicycle
for miles on endless mountain trails. In winter deep snow
blankets the woods in a hush of white repose. Trails to
walk upon through winter's forest. No need to fight traffic
or five hour commute to Tahoe. Here there is so much yet
so little.
Does all of this sound like Sierra mountains at Yosemite
or Lake Tahoe? Guess again. This magic hidden oasis is in
the Bay Region. Only 1 1/2 hour drive from Mill Valley and
Sausalito in southern Marin County or Blackhawk Ranch and
Dublin/Danville area in Contra Costa County.

Only 65 miles from Mill Valley
in Southern Marin and Blackhawk Ranch near Danville there
is a place, almost magical in its peace and safeness. Pine
Grove...A Place Apart. This historic resort is set on a
great mountain plateau high above the Napa Valley. Old homes
and summer cabins long loved among whispering pines. Clear
pure springs bring streams dancing down off Cobb mountain
into deep woods and meadows to a safe place, a family place.
Generations of friends and families return to the Grove
each year and have for more than 75 years past. Children
are safe and free to roam. Families gather each evening
at the community hall within walls covered with years of
happy graffiti and pictures of summers come and gone. Participate
in talent shows, whiffle ball hockey, games and songs. The
best milk shakes ever created are served up at the coffee
shop. Talent shows and barn dances punctuate the passing
evenings. Natural untreated springs fill a giant olympic
sized pool where families and friends lounge on vast lawns
spread beneath ancient pine and ceder trees.
Why travel hours to Lake
Tahoe on roads jammed with tense travelers? The whispering
pines at Pine Grove Resort are a Tahoe getaway near at hand.
Save gas, save your nerves, save the environment.
Time has passed this place by and left it wholesome and
clean. Big Box K-Marts and parking lots have not touched
here. This safe haven resort stands after 85 years as testament
to family values. Sounds of the laughter of children free
to roam among giant pines and mighty oaks. Murmur of friends
greeting one another after another summer's season returned.
Come experience the peace and good fellowship that surrounds
this mountain retreat.
The accommodations are rustic. Simple pool side food and
the greatest milkshakes ever is the eating fare. Housekeeping
country cabins with sleeping porches and historic kitchens
are the style. This is no fru-fru fluffy place. Your children
will experience a camping out environment with amenities
of a huge spring fed pool during hot summer days and the
community hall for evening activities. Take long walks through
deep forests and pristine meadows along Kelsey Creek. Mountain
climb or bicycle ride over endless miles of trails in Boggs
Mountain State Forest and back woods roads of the nearby
Pope Valley wine country. Right next door there is a lovely
yet challenging nine hole golf course, Further afield there
are wineries, a championship 18 hole course in Hidden Valley Lake, and terrific
big name evening entertainment at Konocti Resort. Great
restaurants are close by in Middletown and the Napa Valley.
On property at the Grove, massage treatments are available
outdoors on the deck at our new rustic day spa facility
or brought to the privacy of your cabin.
Yet at the heart of the Pine Grove experience is safety.
For how long have you all been seeking a place where you
can bring your family. This is it! Allow your children the
joy of new friendships made among towering pines and clear
spring-fed streams. Meet and come to know new friends who
share this same sense of family. Relax and enjoy the peace.
